The CDC believes that COVID-19 is spread mainly from person to person. Person to person spreading occurs when people are in close contact with each other (about 6 feet of distance or closer) and/or through respiratory droplets when an infected person sneezes or coughs.
Researchers also believe that the virus may spread from person to surface to person (e.g. when an infected person touches a surface, a non-infected person touches the surface and then touches their eyes, nose, mouth, etc.).
